“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” ~ E.E. Cummings
Courage is mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.
At Kansai Karate we teach children to know that it is not always enough to know the difference between right and wrong. We teach children to have the courage to always do the right thing.
Courage is about trying new activities, even if they scare us. Simply the first step of coming to Kansai Karate training takes courage. It can be quite daunting for children to begin a new endeavour like Martial Arts. For them to walk in and starting as a white belt is something that’s well outside most kid’s comfort zone, so theu are already displaying great courage.
Like most skills, courage can be improved through regular Martial Arts practice. We help children become brave and courageous by teaching them to push through their limits and improve themselves each and every session.
We teach children that being courageous requires wisdom and knowledge. Children learn that to be fearless and courageous they do not need prove themselves by putting themselves in harm’s way or making rash decisions. Through Martial Arts training they learn discipline and learn not to act on impulses. Values and morals are highlighted to exercise courage in a responsible manner.
We remind our new children that every black belt at Kansai Karate started out as a white belt who showed courage and never gave up. Our Kansai Karate programs are designed to help children develop and improve at their own pace. As children learn their first basic steps as white belts, we help them develop courage and the skills to confront challenges head-on.
Building up courage in children is very empowering. It helps strengthen their ability to face their fears and be successful in life. Every child is encouraged to improve their abilities and reach for continually higher goals.
